Charlie was first licensed in 1962 at the age of 13 as WN4IMC and a year later upgraded to General Class as WA4IMC. He holds DXCC Honor Roll and 5BDXCC in addition to WPX, USACA (all US counties), A1-Op, and numerous other awards. He is an active DXer and Contester. He was the first US ham to hold a call in Czechoslovakia in 1992. He became NF4A in October, 2000.
Previous calls held: OK8EMC, HA/WA4IMC, 9A/WA4IMC, T9/NF4A, 9A/NF4A, FS/NF4A, KH4/NF4A, PJ7/NF4A, J79PC, PY5/NF4A and P4/WA4IMC.
He was an operator at K4M (Midway Island), PJ7E (St Maarten), and J7DX (Dominica) DXpeditions. He has been a regular operator at 9A1A during contests since 1995 and has held the Croatian call sign 9A5PC since 2002. He was a referee at the WRTC2006 in Brazil.
Charlie is a member of the Northern California DX Foundation, Southeast DX Club, Florida Contest Group, Alabama Contest Group, Northwest Florida DX Group and a Lifetime member of the ARRL.
Charlie lives with his wife Jennifer in Lynn Haven, Florida, near Panama City where he has lived most of his life. He has 2 grown children (his son holds his old call WA4IMC). Charlie is also a Mason and a member of the Shrine. He is a broadcast engineer and is employed by Clear Channel Media and Entertainment, a large media company that owns over 700 radio stations in the United States plus over 50 stations in New Zealand and Australia. He was named “Engineer of the Year” in 2004, 2005, and 2007 by Clear Channel.
